In some ways she can be very childlike because of her innocence at times and is a little spoiled. She prefers the outdoors to anything else and dislikes the confines of human buildings.

Ayame stood on a high tree limb with a hand on the trunk. She sniffed the air, taking in the place that was to be her new home. It seemed . . . different. So terribly different. There were trees, but not as many as at home. The air was warmer, and the human buildings were even stranger than the ones she was accustomed to seeing. And she could see and smell the ocean. Another new experience. She sighed and looked up at the full moon with a wistful gaze, wondering if the rest of her tribe could still look at the same moon she saw in Kagome's world. She was going to have to get used to this tropical paradise, like it or not.
